at level 2 a houndmaster does 5-8 damage, at level 5 they do 7-13. So apprentice is 77 hp compared to 162 and 2% crit on it's attacks compared to 7%.Īlso just look at hero damage. you might do less damage but the big difference is that the shambler and it's tentacles that spawn have much much lower hp and crit chance on their attacks compared to their champion counterparts. Still having bandages and anti-venoms is also a good way for mitigating the damage made by Shambler's DoT's.I've always fought them in apprentice dungeons. The same thing is with the Collector - it is random encounter so there is no posibility to ''prepeare'' provisions fort hose fights. I was lucky enough to find the altar in Weald in 3-4 corridor with 1 fight behind me, but the altar is an random item, that is hard to find. It is hard to ''prepeare'' for fight, because we do not know when we might encounter him.

Either way, if your party is damaged after previous encounters, fighting Shambler at this state can be a quick way for defeat. The encounter can be random - either you lurk in the darkness or either you just summon him by the altar. It is not a standard boss, that waits for us at the end of the hall.

It is not about the fight, but about preperation. If I am sure, Shambler is more prone to bleeding, so try to use DoT's.

Also thanks for mentioning about Hellion's YAWP - this is also a good strategy. Just like shinydeath said: Crusader's Accusation can do good, if you have proper equipment. If I remember Shambler uses only two attacks, that either blight or bleed you (both summon tentacles, and both make party stressed). The Shambler itself is not the problem, it is the tentacles, that can do you harm. Here are some of my thoughts about the Shambler:
